Migration

Already have devices in the field?

Moving platforms doesn't always mean replacing hardware. Most trackers can be repointed at a new server, which turns a capital problem into a configuration one.

What we can and can't promise

Not every device can move. Migration depends on three things: whether the protocol is decoded, whether you can still reach the devices to change their destination, and whether the SIM or connectivity contract allows it. Some fleets move entirely, some partially, and occasionally the honest answer is that the hardware has to be replaced.

The evaluation exists to find out which of those you are looking at — before you commit to anything, and before a customer is affected.

How a migration runs

Each step gates the next. Nothing is cut over until real telemetry has been validated.

  1. 1Inventory the hardwareWhich manufacturers and models are in the field, in what quantity, and on whose SIMs.
  2. 2Verify protocol and accessWhether the protocol is already decoded, and whether you can reach the devices to change their server destination.
  3. 3Update the server destinationMost trackers accept a configuration command that repoints them. No reflash, no physical access, no truck roll.
  4. 4Validate telemetryConfirm positions, ignition, movement and power decode correctly from real devices before anything is cut over.
  5. 5Import accounts and devicesBring across the account structure so customers keep their fleets, names and grouping.
  6. 6Cut over customersMove in batches. The old platform stays available until each batch is confirmed reporting.

Hardware already decoded

If your hardware is on this list the protocol question is already answered. If it isn't, a configuration-driven decoder covers many protocols without a platform release — send a packet capture and we can tell you.

Once devices report, read them through the GPS tracking API or hand them to customers through the distributor tooling.

Find out what can move.

Send us the manufacturers and models you have in the field. We'll tell you what repoints, what needs work, and what doesn't move.
